Love Story
How did you meet your significant other?
Lee and I met on an Omegle chat room in 2013. I am from Ohio and he is from England. We dated all throughout high school and he came to visit me, but we weren’t going to be able to make immigration work at the time since we were so young. We stayed friends and realized we still loved each other in 2023. I flew to England that Christmas and met his family and he came back to the states the following June and asked me to marry him on Mackinac Island. We did our immigration paperwork and he was approved for the fiancé visa early this year.
How did you get engaged? Who proposed to who?
Lee and I went to Mackinac Island last June. We took a Grand Hotel carriage ride and he proposed to me in one of the hotel’s gazebos.
Special Wedding Moments
What are your favorite memories from your wedding day?
We did a handfasting ceremony, which is a traditional ceremony done in Ireland and Scotland.
Advice For Future Brides
What is one piece of advice you can offer to other brides that are starting their wedding dress shopping experience?
Don’t let anyone else influence your decision on a dress. You know what you like and you should get a dress that feels like you, not like someone else’s expectations of you.
How was your experience with us at TWIRL Bride?
I love TWIRL so much. I had been engaged previously and it didn’t end well. But I knew when I got engaged again, I wanted to go back to TWIRL because they were so great. Being a plus size bride, it was hard to find places that carried a variety of dresses and accommodated different sizes. I loved TWIRL so much that I had called and told them I wanted to order my dress from them even though I live in Colorado now.
